Christopher Nkunku will remain at Chelsea for the remainder of the season, despite significant interest from Manchester United.
The news comes as Joao Felix appears poised for a loan move to AC Milan, marking a potentially significant shift in Chelsea’s squad dynamics during the winter transfer window.
Nkunku’s future at Stamford Bridge had been uncertain, with rumors swirling of a potential move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United were reportedly keen to secure the Frenchman’s services, however, a permanent transfer was always Chelsea’s preferred option.
According to sources, Chelsea’s hefty £65 million ($80.2m) price tag proved a stumbling block for potential suitors. Manchester United’s reported pursuit of a loan deal ultimately fell through, as Chelsea were unwilling to sanction anything other than a permanent sale.
United’s financial constraints, exacerbated by their inability to offload Marcus Rashford, who has gone on loan to Aston Villa, further complicated matters.
This impasse has paved the way for Nkunku to stay at Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Joao Felix’s time at Chelsea appears to be drawing to a close. Fabrizio Romano reports that AC Milan have submitted an official bid for a six-month loan deal, an offer that Chelsea are likely to accept.
Further fueling speculation of an imminent departure, The Telegraph’s Matt Law has indicated that Felix is set to be excluded from Chelsea’s squad for their upcoming Premier League clash against West Ham.
