The FUFA Appeals Committee has dismissed KCCA FC’s appeal against the FUFA Disciplinary Panel’s decision, upholding the ruling that the club fielded an ineligible player during their Uganda Premier League (UPL) match against Mbarara City FC on January 7, 2025.
The Appeals Committee reaffirmed that KCCA FC violated competition regulations by playing right-back Gavin Kizito Mugweri, who had accumulated three yellow cards prior to the match and was therefore ineligible.
As a result, the club’s initial 2-0 victory has been overturned, and Mbarara City FC retains the three points and a 3-0 scoreline by forfeiture.
In its ruling, the Appeals Committee stressed that clubs bear the sole responsibility of ensuring they field only eligible players.
“Fielding eligible players is of critical importance as it ensures high reliability and integrity of competitions,” the committee stated.
With the appeal dismissed, KCCA must now accept the forfeiture ruling, which could impact their league standing as the title race intensifies.
