The She Cranes remain determined to improve after suffering a 59-45 loss to Malawi in their second match at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup in Nottingham, England.
The defeat leaves Uganda winless in the tournament after an earlier 75-40 loss to South Africa, but the team remains focused on learning and improving ahead of their final match against England on February 8.
Speaking to NBS Sport, She Cranes player Hanisha Muhammed described the match as a “learning curve” for the squad, particularly for the younger players making their tournament debut.
She emphasized the role of senior players in guiding the newcomers and ensuring they settle into international competition.
“We have a couple of debutants, and as senior players, it’s our duty to make sure they settle in well,” Muhammed said. “We have been working on our structures in training, and when we face England, we will focus on discipline and staying sharp throughout the game.”
The She Cranes now turn their attention to their final fixture against world No. 4-ranked England on Saturday, February 8.
The Vitality Roses have already shown their strength in the tournament, including a dominant 62-36 win over Malawi, making them a formidable opponent for Uganda.
With the experience gained from their first two matches, the She Cranes will be looking to put up a stronger challenge and end their campaign on a high note.
The team’s focus in training has been on improving their defensive structures and maintaining discipline under pressure, key areas they hope will make a difference against England.
