KCCA Board Confirms CAS Appeal in Gavin Kizito Case

KCCA Football Club Board Chairman Eng. Sserunjogi Andrew Mukiibi has confirmed that the club will officially petition the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over FUFA’s ruling that led to their forfeiture of the match against Mbarara City.

Speaking on the matter, Mukiibi emphasized the board’s stance, stating that they feel KCCA has not been treated fairly in the decision that cost them three crucial points in the Uganda Premier League.

“The KCCA board has taken a decision. We feel like we haven’t been treated fairly,” Mukiibi said. “As a board, we shall take all necessary steps to get justice.”

FUFA’s Appeals Committee upheld the Disciplinary Panel’s decision, ruling that KCCA fielded an ineligible player, Gavin Kizito, despite having received confirmation from the Uganda Premier League (UPL) that the defender was eligible.

KCCA’s leadership has strongly opposed the ruling, arguing that the club followed proper procedures and that FUFA failed to acknowledge key evidence.

Mukiibi further expressed concern over the impact of the decision on the club’s supporters and players.

“We feel that the system isn’t treating us fairly, and this has lowered the morale of the fans and players. We now want justice,” he added.

With KCCA now set to take the case to CAS, the club will be challenging FUFA’s interpretation of the rules governing player eligibility and seeking to overturn the ruling.

CAS, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the highest authority for resolving sports disputes globally, and while its decisions are binding, the case must meet specific legal and procedural criteria to be considered.
