NBS Sport has been ranked as Uganda’s number one sports television station, reaffirming its dominance in sports broadcasting, according to the latest Uganda National Media Survey (UNMS) report by Market Intelligence Group.
The survey, released today, also ranked NBS as the second most-watched television station in the sports category, further cementing Next Media’s influence in Uganda’s media industry.
The report, which analyzed media consumption trends across the country, also recognized NBS Sport’s top presenters, with Andrew Kabuura leading the rankings as the best sports television personality.
Phionah Namiiro (Fifi Phiona Pinky) emerged third, making her the only female sports presenter in the top 10.
Brian Tukasingura (Tuka) and Hakim Kazibwe were ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, underscoring the station’s continued dominance.
Kabuura’s top ranking comes from his standout performances on Sport This Evening and NBS Pressbox, where he shares the stage with Tuka.
Fifi and Hakim co-host Premier Sport Sandabula, while Fifi also hosts The Bench, a show that has gained popularity for its engaging storytelling.
The Uganda National Media Survey, conducted through random stratified sampling across 15 subregions and all districts, provided insight into Uganda’s evolving media industry, and focused on the first quarter of 2025.
With over 50 television stations, 300 radio stations, and a growing number of digital media players, the rankings highlight NBS Sport and NBS’ remarkable reach and influence.
Dr. Joel Isabirye, the Principal Investigator of the survey and Managing Director of Market Intelligence Group, emphasized the importance of tracking media trends in an ever-changing landscape.
“Measuring media trends is a practice the world over. As we are all aware, the media landscape is rapidly changing, and for consumers, advertisers, and practitioners, keeping a tab on changes taking place is very important,” Isabirye said.
