CAF over the weekend successfully hosted the inaugural General Secretaries Leadership Workshop.
Held in Cairo, Egypt, from February 20-21, 2025, this initiative under the CAF General Secretary Programme aims to bolster the leadership and management capabilities of General Secretaries from across CAF’s Member Associations (MAs).
The workshop, designed to enhance executive management skills, served as a vital platform for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and capacity building.
“The success of CAF is inherently tied to the success of each of our Member Associations,” stated CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba. “By investing in the leadership and management skills of our General Secretaries, we are not only empowering individuals but also creating a network of support and collaboration that will benefit football across the continent.”
The InTandem: CAF GS Leadership Workshop focused on key areas of executive management, including strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and operational efficiency.
Participants engaged in interactive workshops, training sessions, and peer-to-peer exchanges, gaining valuable insights and practical tools to navigate the complexities within their respective associations.
A cornerstone of the program is the newly introduced CAF GS Handbook, a foundational resource providing essential knowledge, frameworks, and best practices tailored to the needs of General Secretaries.
This handbook is designed to ensure a sustainable and structured approach to football administration across the continent.
The launch of the InTandem: CAF GS Leadership Programme represents a significant step in CAF’s strategic vision, emphasizing collaboration and shared success among its Member Associations.
The program is expected to deliver lasting benefits not only to participants but also to the broader African football landscape.
Adding a unique element to the workshop, delegates had the opportunity to visit the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Technical Training Centre.
They were warmly welcomed by FIFA Council Member and EFA President Hany Abou Rida and participated in a friendly football match, fostering camaraderie and unity among members.
This initiative follows other recent CAF efforts to enhance football development across the continent.
In December 2024, CAF held a strategy workshop for youth football excellence in Cairo, focusing on enhancing academies and youth development.
Additionally, CAF gathered medical practitioners in Monrovia, Liberia, to standardize medical practices in the West African Zone A region.
