Ugandan rugby administrators Prossy Nakakande and Winnie Etyang have been selected as Impact Champions for Rugby Afrique and World Rugby’s “Her Strength, Her Impact, Our Dream” campaign, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at celebrating and empowering women in African rugby.
The campaign, launched by Rugby Afrique, shines a spotlight on female rugby players, coaches, and administrators whose influence is shaping the future of the sport.
Nakakande, a Uganda Rugby Union (URU) Executive Committee member, and Etyang, the Lady Rugby Cranes 7s Team Manager, join a select group of women recognized for their contributions to the game.
Their selection acknowledges their leadership and dedication to the growth of women’s rugby in Uganda and across the continent.
The campaign highlights personal stories of resilience, leadership, and impact, with the goal of inspiring the next generation of female rugby player.
It comes at a crucial time as African nations gear up for the 2025 Rugby World Cup, reinforcing the message that women’s rugby is not just growing but thriving on the global stage.
Additionally, Uganda Age Grade Rugby’s Jude Rwakayanga has been featured in the campaign’s docu-series, further showcasing Uganda’s role in advancing the women’s game.
