Lawal, a former Nigeria U-20 international, died under controversial circumstances after reportedly falling from the third floor of Voicemall Shopping Arcade in Kampala.

Uganda police have since confirmed that they are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting interrogations to establish the exact cause of Lawal’s death.

Vipers, where Lawal played before his passing, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their player and are inviting the public, including teammates, fans, and well-wishers, to attend the memorial service.

“Abubakar Lawal was a beloved member of our Vipers SC family, and we want to honor his memory together,” the club said in a statement.

Lawal, who previously played for Nigeria’s Kano Pillars before moving to Uganda, was regarded as a kind and talented forward with immense potential.

His untimely death has sent shockwaves through the football community, with tributes pouring in from players, clubs, and fans across Nigeria and Uganda.
