A gulf in class was painfully evident as Victoria Sharks delivered a crushing 72-15 victory over Elgon Wolves in a weekend of dramatic rugby action.

The Sharks’ ruthless performance starkly contrasted with the Wolves’ struggles, highlighting a widening disparity in the league.

BIG INTERVIEW: New Heathens Chairman Desire Derekford Mugumisa Lays Out Blueprint After Election

From the outset, the Sharks displayed a level of precision and power that the Wolves simply couldn’t match.

Their attacking patterns were fluid and well-executed, with quick ball movement and dominant physicality leaving the Wolves’ defense reeling.

The Sharks’ clinical efficiency ensured that every opportunity was capitalized upon, resulting in a relentless onslaught of tries.

For the beleaguered Elgon Wolves, the match was a stark reminder of their current struggles. Defensive frailties, compounded by handling errors and a lack of pace, left them exposed and vulnerable.

Despite occasional glimpses of attacking intent, they were unable to maintain possession or build sustained pressure, leaving them chasing shadows for much of the game.

The Sharks’ dominant display was just one highlight of a weekend filled with unexpected results across the league.

In a stunning upset, Heathens, a perennial powerhouse, suffered a narrow 20-21 defeat at the hands of Buffaloes, sending shockwaves through the rugby community.

The Buffaloes’ resilience and tactical discipline proved decisive in securing the hard-fought victory.

In another nail-biting encounter, Walukuba edged Rhinos 19-18 in a tense affair that went down to the wire. The match was a testament to the competitive nature of the league, with both teams displaying unwavering determination.

Meanwhile, Kobs reinforced their title credentials with a commanding 40-14 victory over Mongers, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.

Their dominant performance underlined their status as one of the league’s frontrunners.

The Warriors experienced a day to forget, suffering a humiliating 00-72 defeat at the hands of Pirates. The crushing loss has raised serious concerns about the Warriors’ form and prompted questions about their ability to compete at the highest level.

In the final match of the weekend, Eagles put up a spirited fight against Hippos but ultimately fell short, losing 23-37. While the Eagles showed flashes of brilliance, the Hippos’ superior experience and composure proved decisive.
