Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club captain Trizah Atuka believes her side’s strong start to the 2025 Confederation of African (CAVB) Volleyball Zone 5 Championship offers key motivation as they aim to retain the women’s title.
Wins against Tanzania’s Prisons and Ugandan sides Ndejje Elites and KCB Nkumba see the holders finish top of pool A as they look to build momentum for the rest of the tournament.
With 8 women and 11 men’s teams battling for the regional title, the middle-blocker says the tournament serves as preparations for the African championship.
“We have had a good start to the tournament as defending champions. We are ready to defend the title for the second round. The competition is good and we cannot underrate any team,” she said.
“This Zone 5 is important because it’s preparation for us for the African championship,” she added.
Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Polce won the women and men’s titles at the 2023 edition held in Rwanda.
