Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s under-pressure manager, revealed an odd interaction he frequently experiences with fans despite the club enduring one of its worst seasons.
Since taking over from Erik ten Hag in November, Amorim has struggled to turn things around, with United slipping from 13th to 15th in the Premier League standings.
The Portuguese manager admitted he finds it hard to understand why fans often tell him he’s doing “a good job” when they meet him in person.
Despite United’s poor form, Amorim said the encouragement has been “really important” for him during a challenging time at Old Trafford.
Under Amorim, United have logged just three wins in their last 12 games and are on course for their worst-ever finish in the Premier League. With a win rate of 31% in the league, the lowest for any manager in the club’s history, United have also crashed out of both the FA Cup and EFL Cup this season.
As their Champions League qualification hopes fade, United’s best chance of salvaging their season lies in the Europa League.
However, Amorim downplayed the significance of winning the competition, declaring, “Nothing can save our season.”
Amorim acknowledged the tough road ahead, but emphasized his focus on improving as a coach and helping his team perform better.
