Rhinos Rugby Club will play their last three regular season matches in the 2025 men’s Uganda Rugby Premiership at their Legends home ground.
Toyota Buffaloes, Jinja Hippos and Stanbic Black Pirates in that order from this Saturday, March 15 until March 29.
Odds and the mathematics are in Rhinos’ favour to stay within the top 8 playoff places — because ninth-placed Mongers will need three bonus point wins to equal their points tally if Rhinos do not add any more.
Given that they started the season with a shock victory over KOBs and, despite struggling without their key players on national 7s duty, have stayed in the top half of the table, eighth is not where Rhinos want to finish the regular season.
That’s why this Saturday’s Round 9 match against Buffaloes is important. Not only as the “easiest” match to collect maximum points but as a springboard to bounce back to winning ways and close the regular season with crucial momentum.
Buffaloes, on the other hand, will play their last three regular season matches away from home. After Rhinos at Legends, they will visit Pirates at Kings Park and Elgon Wolves in Mbale.
A bit unlike Rhinos, Buffaloes are on a good run of form. Three wins — including one against Heathens in the Kyadondo derby, a draw and a loss were registered in their five most recent matches.
This Saturday’s match is as equally important to Buffaloes. Not only to maintain the momentum as the regular season nears a climax but also to climb higher in the standings.
So, a fear of sliding down the table in Rhinos meets a need to climb up the same table in Buffaloes.
This exciting match will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
