The adverts, social media campaigns, and launch had taken place a while back, promising an unforgettable season.
True to the organizer Mr. Ian Rumanyika’s word, the official day of the Corporate Games kicked off on 2nd March 2025, as all roads led to the NEC grounds in Bugolobi.
It was exactly as marketed, and—oh, did I mention? They had the Air Force Band in formation, marching around the field alongside each company’s participants. What a sound to behold! It brought back childhood memories of scout assemblies at Baden Powell School—woop woop, yeayyyy!
The day began on a cool note, with 45 companies registered for this year’s games. These included, but were not limited to, The Judiciary Commission Limited, Uganda Baati, State House, and Mulwana Group of Companies.
All showed up in their well-designed and branded game kits and jerseys, exuding enthusiasm and excitement I hadn’t seen in a while. They were fully geared up to represent, lighting up my already radiant day as I smiled from ear to ear watching them arrive.
The sponsors, NBS Sport, were live on the field, covering all the highlights, while UZIMA Water sponsored and supplied free water to all participating companies.
By 10 a.m., the sun began to flaunt its intensity. Did that stop anyone? ABSOLUTELY NOT! If anything, it seemed to re-energize everyone in attendance. Truly, a sight for sore eyes.
The guest of honor and chief sportsman, none other than Major Ankwasa Edgar—the General Manager of UZIMA Water and Vice Chairman of NEC FC—arrived around 12:30 p.m., visibly pleased with the impressive turnout. He announced that the CEO Outing, where CEOs will participate in a variety of fun games, is slated for May.
Furthermore, he shared that the Corporate Run, specifically aimed at supporting expectant mothers, would commence in October. Other exciting activities, such as the Aviation and Oil and Gas outings, are also part of this year’s calendar of events.
After these announcements, the games truly began! Football, volleyball, and tug-of-war were in full swing in different corners of the field.
Service providers for snacks and refreshments of all kinds were in attendance, catering to the multitude of sports lovers who showed up. Notable vendors included Soul Fresh Juice for healthy, nourishing drinks, and Jackzaan Bar and Restaurant, serving cocktails and roasted meats.
Photography and videography were brilliantly handled by HI5 Media, who seemed to have a camera capturing every angle.
I could go on writing until the goats come home, but at this point, allow me to inform you that the Corporate Games will be taking place every second Sunday of each month this year at the NEC grounds in Bugolobi.
You are all welcome to come in large numbers. Bring your families! Bring your friends!
It was truly a beautiful, happy, exciting, and glorious kickoff day.
Until the next game, I remain your trusted Corporate Games cheerleader,
Diana Kamugisha.
