Big League: Buhimba Saints Rally to Extend Lead as Paidha Edge Booma

Buhimba Saints staged a comeback to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Kataka in the FUFA Big League on Sunday, tightening their grip at the top of the table.

The result, achieved at Kigaaya, also saw them complete a season double over Kataka, having won by the same margin in Mbale last December.

Despite falling behind in the 40th minute to a Michael Olinga goal, Buhimba responded immediately through John Wesley Kisakye, who equalized less than a minute later.

Lucas Mola then delivered the decisive moment in the 76th minute, ensuring the table leaders maintained their impressive run of form.

Buhimba Saints now sit at the summit with 35 points, four ahead of both Blacks Power and Gaddafi, who are tied at 31 points. Their campaign has been marked by ten wins, five draws, and just three losses in 18 matches, reinforcing their push for promotion.

Kataka, on the other hand, remains in sixth place with 24 points, recording seven wins, three draws, and eight defeats.

In Masindi, Paidha Black Angels edged Booma FC 1-0, condemning the struggling side to their 11th consecutive game without a win. Frank Muna Kalule struck in the second minute, marking his second goal in three appearances since his January move from Ntungusaze.

Paidha could have widened the margin, but Booma goalkeeper Richard Afoyo produced a string of crucial saves to deny Okello Elio, Opar Jacob, and Opio William. Booma’s search for an equalizer proved futile as Ibrahim Ekellot and John Bosco Sempijja failed to beat Paidha’s Tonny Kyamera.

This victory, Paidha Black Angels’ second away win of the season, lifts them to fourth place with 29 points from 18 matches. Meanwhile, Booma FC remains in 14th place with 15 points from 17 games, their last victory dating back to November.

Looking ahead, Booma FC faces a tough away fixture against Kaaro Karungi on March 23, while Paidha Black Angels will visit Ntungusaze FC at the Mityana Ssaza Ground.
