Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness as they prepare to face Mozambique in a crucial FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier at Cairo International Stadium on March 20, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Put acknowledged the challenges of assembling the squad but emphasized the strong mentality and work ethic displayed by his players in training.
“It’s always difficult to find all your players at the same time, but that’s the nature of international football,” Put said.
“I received the players little by little, but I think the spirit is quite okay. What I saw on the training ground, I was very happy about their performance, about their mentality, and I think it will be important for the game.”
With Uganda sitting three points behind Mozambique in the qualification race, Put underlined the significance of the match in shaping their campaign.
“If you want to be dominant in your ranking, every game is important. We know Mozambique is ahead of us, so this is a crucial game,” he added.
Despite playing away from home, the Belgian tactician believes his players are aware of what is at stake.
“If you have ambition and want good results, you have to push yourself. Away games are always difficult, but my players understand the importance of this match, and I trust they will give their best,” Put emphasized.
Uganda will be looking to build on their positive momentum and secure vital points in a bid to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
