Vipers SC marched into the quarterfinals of the 2024/25 Stanbic Uganda Cup with a dominant 3-0 victory over FUFA Big League side Blacks Power at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The three-time Uganda Cup winners showcased their superiority despite missing key players Allan Okello, Abdul Karim Watambala, and Rogers Torach, who are away on national team duty.
Striker Kenneth Kimera was also absent due to injury, but the Venoms had more than enough firepower to get the job done.
Yunus Sentamu set the tone in the 30th minute, expertly volleying home a Pedro Sukuya assist to give Vipers a deserved lead.
The second half saw Sentamu turn provider, setting up Sukuya for the second goal on the hour mark. Two minutes later, Livingstone Mulondo powered in a header from a Sukuya corner to put the result beyond doubt.
Blacks Power’s woes were compounded by their late arrival at the stadium due to traffic congestion, and they struggled to recover from the early setbacks.
With this victory, Vipers join Kitara, Police, SC Villa, KCCA, BUL, Kataka, and Kaaro Karungi in the quarterfinals.
The Venoms, who currently top the Uganda Premier League standings, are chasing a historic domestic double and will be among the favourites as the competition heads into its decisive stages.
