The Pearl of Africa (POA) Golf Series is set to make history with the introduction of a Junior Challenge at the Entebbe leg, marking a significant step in grassroots golf development in Uganda.
This initiative will give young golfers a chance to compete alongside professionals, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience in a competitive setting.
The Junior Challenge will feature a “nearest-to-the-pin” contest on Hole 10, where junior golfers will take on professional players in a test of precision and skill.
The top three juniors will be recognized and rewarded, further motivating young talent to pursue excellence in the sport.
The inclusion of junior players comes at a time when Ugandan youth golf is gaining momentum, especially following a strong showing by the national junior team at the Victoria Cup.
Organizers hope this initiative will inspire more young players, strengthen talent development, and ensure the future of Ugandan golf remains bright.
“The POA Golf Series is about creating opportunities at all levels, and introducing a Junior Challenge is a natural step in building the next generation of elite golfers,” said Juliet Anena, Founder of the series.
“These young players are the future of Ugandan golf, and giving them a chance to compete in a professional setting will boost their confidence and development.”
The Entebbe leg of the POA Golf Series tees off on April 2 and will run until April 5, featuring professionals, amateurs, and now juniors, making it the most inclusive edition yet.
