New Namibia President Engages Ham On Sports Investment

Namibia’s newly elected President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has engaged Ugandan businessman Dr. Hamis Kiggundu to extend his investment in sports to Namibia.

The 72-year-old won November’s election with a 58% share of the vote becoming only Africa’s second-ever directly elected female President and Namibia’s first female Head of State.

The Ham Group of Companies CEO, in company of businessman and the honorary consul of Namibia to Uganda Godfrey Kirumira and other businessmen, was present in Namibia as Netumbo was sworn in.

In January last year, President Netumbo visited Hamz Stadium Nakivubo during her time in Uganda for the Non-Aligned Movement convention where she first interested Dr. Kiggundu is investing in Namibia. At the time, she was a President in waiting.

“Constructing a beautiful facility like this stadium is exceptional work done by Dr. Hamis Kiggundu. I invite him to do the same in Namibia,” she noted.

Dr. Kiggundu told NBS Sport that he is open to any investment in any part of the world.

He believes that the newly elected president will provide attractive investment opportunities in Namibia.

“I am a businessman and I can’t go away from the path of good opportunities of investment,” noted Kiggundu, who has several investments in Africa, Europe, USA and the Arab world.

He is highly recognized internationally for construction of Hamz Nakivubo stadium that has become Uganda’s top sports hub.
