The Boston Celtics achieved a franchise-first 6-0 road trip with a commanding 117-103 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
This marked Boston’s eighth consecutive road win, improving their away record to an impressive 32-7 for the season.
The Celtics are now just two wins shy of tying the Golden State Warriors’ NBA record for most road wins in a single season, set during their 34-7 campaign in 2015-16.
The Celtics’ dominant performance on the road has been nothing short of historic. With two road games remaining—on April 8 against New York and April 9 against Orlando—they are also closing in on another milestone.
Their 23 double-digit road victories are just one away from tying the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers for the most in NBA history. Additionally, they have outscored opponents by 404 points on the road, nearing the record of 430 points also set by the 1971-72 Lakers.
When asked about the Celtics’ road success, coach Joe Mazzulla responded confidently, “I would venture to say that our guys are good everywhere.” He credited the team’s consistent basketball and road mentality as key factors in their achievements.
Boston’s stellar road performance places them as serious contenders this season, though they trail Cleveland in the Eastern Conference.
BetMGM Sportsbook lists the Celtics as favorites to win the East and second only to Oklahoma City in odds for the NBA title.
The Thunder, who are 11-0 on the road since the All-Star break, also have a chance to match Golden State’s record with their 29-7 away record and four road games remaining.
The Celtics’ 32nd road victory tied the 1972-73 and 1974-75 Boston teams for the most in franchise history. Reflecting on the achievement, forward Al Horford remarked, “We’ve been very focused. The way we’re playing and the things we’re doing here are pretty special.”
