A Real Madrid legend will visit Uganda and grace the second edition of the 2025 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series on May 31, 2025.
This revelation was made by I&M Bank’s executives during a press event on Tuesday morning at the bank’s headquarters at Kingdom Kampala.
Speakers at the event remained tight-lipped when asked to share the legends’ name or give a hint on who it could be.
The Katogo tournament will be played under the ‘For Better For Worse’ format. This consists of teams of two (mixed pairs allowed) where each player plays their own ball. Each team declares nine holes on which they enter their better score and nine others on which they their worse score.
I&M Bank joins Real Madrid Foundation and Xcalibur Foundation to develop a sports social school in Uganda
For three years, Xcalibur Foundation and Real Madrid Foundation have run a sports social school project at Naguru Katali Primary School; impacting over 280 schoolchildren and close to 700 of their family and community members.
I&M Bank has joined the two foundations to take this project to the next level and expand it to other community schools in areas around the capital and in Jinja.
Xcalibur Foundation’s Executive Director, Javier Lezcano, said: “At the Foundation, we are enthusiastic and motivated to continue the mission we have been carrying out in Uganda through this expansion.
Real Madrid Foundation’s Managing Director, Julio González Ronco, added that the new alliance “allow us to reach even more children in need, offering them a safe space where they can enjoy sports while learning essential values that shapes their future.”
I&M Bank enters as another local partner and key stakeholder whose mandate will be to contribute funds for the project’s operations.
“As a people-centred bank, we’re committed to making a real difference in the communities around us. This partnership is about supporting the next generation and providing opportunities for growth, education, and inclusion for all,” Chief Executive Robin Bairstow affirmed.
