West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta faces an extended wait for a verdict in his spot-fixing trial, with proceedings delayed by over a month due to the vast amount of evidence under review.
Originally expected to conclude within three weeks, the panel is now “stuck in a hiatus,” according to reports.
The 27-year-old Brazilian is accused of deliberately earning yellow cards in four Premier League matches between November 2022 and August 2023.
If found guilty, Paqueta faces a lifetime ban from professional football, a potential career-ending blow for the international star.
The investigation, launched in August 2023, has been described as “mentally taxing” for the player.
Despite the ongoing case, Paqueta has remained a pivotal figure for West Ham, making 30 appearances this season.
