Uganda Cranes midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has sparked fresh speculation about his future at APR with a cryptic tweet posted shortly after the club’s narrow 1-0 win over Bugesera on Saturday—a match he did not feature in.
“The truth always comes out in the end, no matter how hard anyone tries to hide it or stop it. Lies are just a temporary delay to the inevitable,” Lwanga tweeted on Sunday, shortly after the victory that saw APR return to the top of the Rwanda Premier League table.
The timing and tone of the post have raised eyebrows, coming amid a breakdown in contract renewal negotiations between Lwanga and the Rwandan giants.
With about two months left on his current deal, the midfielder’s absence from the squad—despite being fit—has only intensified rumours of a potential departure.
In his absence, fellow Ugandans Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka featured in the second half, helping APR hold off a late push from Bugesera.
Burkinabe striker Djibril Ouattara’s early goal proved decisive, as APR leapfrogged Rayon Sports—who drew 2-2 with Marines FC—to move top on 48 points.
Lwanga, who was instrumental in APR’s league title win last season and their CAF Champions League campaign, now finds himself on the fringes as the club navigates a crucial stretch in the title race.
Interest in the experienced midfielder is reportedly high, with Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh—coached by former Uganda Cranes manager Milutin Sredojević—among the clubs monitoring his situation.
