Paddy Pimblett has undergone a transformation, according to those closest to him. The birth of his identical twin daughters, Betsy and Margot, a year ago has given the Liverpool native a renewed sense of purpose both in and out of the octagon.
“It’s given me more motivation. I’m training harder than I’ve ever trained now because they’re in the back of my mind,” Pimblett shared. “I need to look after them for the rest of my life, I need to put food on the table.”
Known for his humor, Pimblett admitted the challenges of raising twins. “Try and just have one baby—twins are hard work,” he joked, highlighting moments like their synchronized cries during car rides.
Pimblett has been focused on preparations for UFC 314 in Miami, Florida, where he’ll face American lightweight Michael Chandler in one of the most anticipated matchups of the year.
Since his statement-making first-round submission win over Bobby Green last July, Pimblett has spent nearly every day in the gym refining his skills for the clash with Chandler, ranked seventh in the division to Pimblett’s twelfth.
Chandler, a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion and UFC title challenger, is renowned for his aggressive fighting style. “He’s gonna come out and try and take my head off, I know he is 100%,” Pimblett said confidently. “I’ll be using my range against him…I’m looking forward to putting on a show for everyone.”
