Eddie Howe Hospitalized And Will Miss Newcastle’s Clash With Manchester United

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been admitted to the hospital and will miss his team’s Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday.

The 47-year-old sought medical attention late on Friday after feeling unwell for several days. Newcastle released a statement confirming that Howe is conscious, speaking with his family, and receiving expert care while undergoing further tests.

Assistant managers Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will step in to lead the Magpies during Howe’s absence, with Tindall standing in at the pre-match press conference.

Newcastle extended their well-wishes for Howe’s swift recovery, while further updates regarding his condition remain pending.

Howe’s hospitalization comes after a significant achievement last month, guiding Newcastle to their first domestic trophy in 70 years with a victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final. Currently seventh in the Premier League, the Magpies aim to consolidate their position under the leadership of Tindall and Jones.

Appointed in November 2021, Howe has overseen a revival at Newcastle, recording 84 wins, 36 draws, and 45 losses across 165 matches.

Under his guidance, the team achieved memorable feats, including a win over Paris Saint-Germain in the 2023-24 Champions League group stage, though they didn’t advance beyond the group phase.

Howe has previously managed Bournemouth and Burnley and has been linked with the England manager role, though he clarified he wasn’t approached for the position last October.
