Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk are in negotiations for a highly anticipated rematch set to take place at Wembley Stadium on 12 July, with the fight potentially deciding the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Between them, the rivals hold all four major heavyweight titles—Dubois as the IBF champion, and Usyk holding the WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC belts.
Usyk, the 38-year-old Ukrainian, remains undefeated in 23 professional fights and secured a victory over Dubois in their first encounter in August 2023.
The rematch offers the 27-year-old Londoner a shot at redemption and the chance to write his name into boxing history.
While discussions are ongoing, contracts have yet to be signed. Dubois has made a strong comeback since his defeat to Usyk, winning three consecutive bouts via knockout.
However, if terms cannot be reached, Dubois may be mandated by the IBF to face veteran Derek Chisora, the organization’s top contender.
The proposed July date coincides with a packed sporting calendar, which includes the final weekend of Wimbledon, Katie Taylor’s trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano in New York, and the Women’s Euro 2025 tournament.
Usyk, who was forced to vacate the IBF belt ahead of his rematch with Tyson Fury last December, is eager to fight for the undisputed crown again before retiring. The former undisputed cruiserweight champion has hinted he plans to retire after two more fights, cementing his legacy in the sport.
For Dubois, this fight could be historic, as no British fighter has held the undisputed heavyweight title in the four-belt era. The last Briton to claim the title was Lennox Lewis in 1999.
