Football powerhouse St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende retained their Wakiso Zone Football Championship title after a 2-0 win over rivals Buddo Secondary School in the final played on Tuesday at the Wakisha resource center grounds.
Goals from Bahati Bitwayiki and Santos Agok were enough for Kitende to retain the pride of one of Uganda’s most intense school football rivalries.
For Buddo SS, the final was not only an opportunity for revenge last year’s loss, but also a chance to match Kitende’s four championship titles.
Kitende beat Buddo 1-0 in a tense final last year. Meanwhile, Kitende lost in the girls’ basketball final to St Noah Girls 54-43.
St Noah also won the Wakiso zone girls football title after edging Rines SS 1-0 in the final courtesy of Sylvia Kabene strike.
