Arteta Provides Update on Saka’s Injury Following Ipswich Win

Bukayo Saka’s ankle injury appears to be “nothing serious,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed after the winger was forced off during the Gunners’ emphatic 4-0 victory over Ipswich on Sunday.

Saka sustained the injury following a high challenge by Ipswich’s Leif Davis, who received a red card for the tackle in the 32nd minute.

Saka, who was substituted early in the second half, was seen with strapping on his ankle. However, Arteta reassured fans that the decision to take him off was precautionary, especially with Arsenal facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final first leg on 29 April.

“He was a bit sore, but it’s nothing serious, so it’s good,” Arteta said, adding that the challenge was dangerous but not intentional.

The injury comes amid an already challenging season for Arsenal, who have dealt with significant absences due to injuries to key players such as Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta admitted he is always concerned when players struggle during matches, given the club’s current squad numbers.

Despite these hurdles, Arsenal continues to push forward, with their victory over Ipswich cementing their place as strong contenders both domestically and in Europe.
