KCCA Netball Club narrowly avoided a major upset on Match Day Three of the National Netball Super League, edging out a spirited UPDF side 46-42 in a game that tested the Kampala-based club’s depth and resilience.
Despite a strong start from UPDF, who dominated the opening two quarters with unmatched energy, KCCA managed to regroup and overturn the deficit in the final minutes.
The decision to field several young and new players nearly cost KCCA, but a late surge ensured they walked away with maximum points.
“The game slipped out of our hands in the beginning because we underestimated UPDF after beating them by many goals in our previous match in Busia,” admitted KCCA captain Shaffie Nalwanja. “We had to dig deep to recover.”
UPDF’s strong showing came despite grappling with injuries that impacted their rotation and overall consistency.
Team captain Agnes Kajumba remained optimistic, highlighting the side’s determination to bounce back.
“We’re committed to training harder and fixing our weak spots. The entire squad will be in good shape and ready to deliver,” Kajumba stated.
Elsewhere, record champions NIC Netball Club extended their impressive run, securing a 38-35 win over Weyonje Netball Club at Nakivubo Stadium.
