St. Mary’s Kitende Arrive in Ghana Ahead of CAF Africa Schools Football Championship

Uganda’s boys’ football representatives, St. Mary’s School Kitende, have arrived safely in Accra, Ghana, ahead of the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship scheduled to take place from April 23 to 26.

The U-15 team touched down on Sunday afternoon and will be residing at the University of Ghana for the duration of the tournament.

Their arrival comes just a day after the girls’ team from St. Noa Secondary School also landed in the West African country, completing Uganda’s delegation to the continental schools’ showpiece.

The CAF Africa Schools Football Championship Continental Finals will feature eight teams in each category (boys and girls), drawn from the four CAF zones. Uganda remains one of the few nations with representation in both categories.

St. Mary’s Kitende and St. Noa were flagged off earlier in the week by Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among during a ceremony at Parliament.

The event was also attended by FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo, USSSA President Justus Mugisha, Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports Rev. Canon Dr. Duncans Mugumya, and other USSSA officials.

While addressing the teams, officials applauded both schools for their contribution to Ugandan football and expressed confidence in their performance.

The tournament will also see legendary African footballers like Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Pele mentoring young players, adding prestige and excitement to the event.
