Ugandan sprinter and Olympian Tarsis Orogot has signed a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal with global sportswear giant Adidas, marking a significant milestone in his rising career.

The sprinter announced the news on social media, writing: “Just a boy with a dream. Blessed and excited to officially join the Adidas family through NIL. This is just the beginning!”

While the specific terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, NIL deals typically allow athletes to promote brands through social media, advertising campaigns, and public appearances in exchange for financial compensation, branded merchandise, or other benefits.

In Adidas’ case, this often involves brand ambassadorship roles and participation in select marketing initiatives, especially among collegiate and up-and-coming athletes.

Orogot’s partnership with Adidas comes on the heels of his impressive debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he represented Uganda in the men’s 200m.

Though he missed out on a podium finish, Orogot captured global attention—not just for his athletic performance, but also for his distinctive choice of socks featuring SpongeBob SquarePants.

The lighthearted touch sparked widespread affection from fans and media outlets, who praised him for his talent and authenticity.

A standout sprinter at the University of Alabama, Orogot is widely regarded as one of the fastest men in Ugandan history.

He previously made headlines after breaking national records in both the 100m and 200m events, and has been on a steady rise in international athletics circles.
