First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has congratulated the Uganda U-17 national football team, the Cubs, following their historic qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
In a message shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Easter Monday, the First Lady lauded the young players for their courage, discipline, and dedication, describing their success as a blessing to the nation.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our U-17 Cubs on their historic qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. We are truly grateful to the Almighty for this blessing,” she posted.
Mrs. Museveni noted that the team’s achievement had not only lifted the nation’s spirits but also served as an inspiration to all Ugandans.
“Your courage, discipline, and dedication have uplifted our hearts and inspired our nation. May this achievement be the start of even greater triumphs to come,” she added.
The Cubs made history last week with a 2-1 win over The Gambia in a decisive playoff match at the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, securing Uganda’s first-ever ticket to a FIFA World Cup tournament in any football category.
The First Lady’s message joins a chorus of national pride and celebration from various government officials, sports leaders, and fans who continue to hail the young team for setting a new milestone in Uganda’s football journey.
