The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has announced the organization of a professional boxing Referees and Judges (R&J) course scheduled for April 24–25, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to build capacity within the sport’s technical ranks.
According to UBF President Moses Muhangi, the workshop is aimed at enhancing the skills of those involved in the officiation of professional boxing matches across the country. The course will conclude with a boxing showcase event on April 26, 2025.
Registration for the program runs from April 17 to April 22, 2025. While the fee is set at UGX 200,000 for new applicants, it will be free for currently active professional boxing referees and judges.
Interested participants are advised to contact Registration Assistant Michelle Nakkazi on +256 777 686685. The venue will be communicated to confirmed participants on April 23.
The workshop will be conducted by an instructor certified by the African Boxing Union (ABU) and the World Boxing Council (WBC), signaling UBF’s commitment to aligning its standards with global best practices.
Due to limited space, registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
This initiative comes as part of the federation’s broader strategy to strengthen professional officiating in Uganda, ensuring that the sport continues to develop in line with international norms.
