Forest Edge Spurs to Move Third in Premier League Standings

Nottingham Forest reignited their push for Champions League football with a gritty 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday.

The win sees Nuno Espírito Santo’s side leapfrog Newcastle United, Manchester City, and Chelsea into third place.

Forest made an explosive start, with Elliot Anderson breaking the deadlock in the fifth minute after Spurs failed to clear a corner.

His drilled shot, aided by a Rodrigo Bentancur deflection, found the back of the net. Chris Wood, initially denied by VAR, struck soon after in the 16th minute—rising above the defense to nod home Anthony Elanga’s cross, marking his 19th league goal of the season.

Despite Forest’s early dominance, Spurs gradually took control of the second half, pushing for a breakthrough.

Mathys Tel and Richarlison both squandered key chances, while Dejan Kulusevski’s header was spectacularly cleared off the line by Harry Toffolo.

Richarlison finally found the net late on, converting Pedro Porro’s cross to cut the deficit, but it proved too little, too late.

The defeat marks Tottenham’s fourth loss in their last five matches, leaving them languishing in 16th place.

Forest’s victory significantly boosts their Champions League qualification hopes, ensuring they remain firmly in the race ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
