Kataka Reach Uganda Cup Semi-Finals

FUFA Big League side Kataka Football Club has advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious Stanbic Uganda Cup.

In a tense quarter-final battle, Kataka stunned Uganda Premier League side Police, triumphing 3-0 on penalties after a grueling goalless draw through regulation and extra time.

With everything on the line, Kataka held their nerve in the penalty shootout, with Makas Aka, Muhammed Biafula, and Ali Sentamu converting their spot-kicks in clinical fashion.

Meanwhile, Police crumbled under pressure, seeing all three of their penalties crash against the crossbar in heartbreaking fashion.

Tonny Kiwalazi, Gaddafi Kacancu, and Ben Ocen were left in disbelief as their misses sealed their team’s fate.

The match was a tense affair, with Police dominating early spells and Dennis Kalanzi coming closest, rattling the post with a powerful header off an Emmanuel Mugume cross.

But Kataka, showing immense resilience, weathered the storm and held firm despite a late setback—Emmanuel Kulanga received a red card in extra time for a rash challenge on Reagan Male.

Against all odds, Kataka has secured a place in the final four of the 51st edition of the Uganda Cup, where they now stand alongside Ugandan football powerhouses KCCA, Vipers, and defending champions Kitara.
