Manchester United have set their sights on Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, with the club considering a move for the Brazilian striker ahead of the summer transfer window.
Cunha, who has a £62.5m release clause, is expected to leave Molineux at the end of the season, and United are among several clubs vying for his signature.
Sources indicate that Cunha is one of multiple attacking options on Ruben Amorim’s shortlist, alongside Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.
Given United’s struggles in front of goal—their tally of 38 goals in 33 league matches ranks among the lowest in the Premier League—reinforcements are seen as crucial.
Cunha has been Wolves’ top scorer this season, netting 16 goals in all competitions, and he thrives in a system similar to Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 setup.
However, his disciplinary record may raise concerns, as the former Atletico Madrid forward has been sent off twice this season, missing six games through suspension.
United will face stiff competition for the forward, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle also in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer.
Cunha himself has hinted at his desire to step up, stating in an interview that he is ready to “fight for titles.”
Financial uncertainties add complexity to United’s plans. Winning the Europa League and securing Champions League qualification could boost their budget by approximately £100m, but their current 14th-place standing puts them at risk of missing out on vital Premier League earnings.
