Uganda’s representatives at the CAF African Schools Football Championship girls’ competition, St Noa Secondary School, have settled in well in Accra, Ghana, ahead of the tournament kick-off on Wednesday, April 23.
Led by Head Coach Jimmy Kintu, the team has completed three training sessions at Nania Park, with the latest focused on recovery and conditioning.
Kintu praised the players’ adaptability and work ethic, particularly under the intense Ghanaian heat.
“We’ve had our third recovery training session, and the girls’ bodies are responding well,” said Kintu.
“We’re training under the hot sun, which has a two-sided effect. It’s tough, but necessary, because we’ll be playing in the same conditions. The team is adjusting, and that’s key.”
St Noa is drawn in Group B, which features a strong line-up including defending champions South Africa, DR Congo, and The Gambia.
With only the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals, every fixture will be critical.
Kintu’s focus in training has extended beyond tactics, placing emphasis on physical endurance and mental preparation.
His aim is to ensure the players are not only match-fit but also acclimatized to the local conditions—an important factor in tournament play.
The CAF Schools Championship runs from April 23 to 26, bringing together top school teams from across the continent in a bid to promote youth development through football.
Uganda’s hopes rest on the shoulders of St Noa who will represent the girls and St. Mary’s Kitende who will represent the boys.
