Wanainchi and USIU emerged as the top sides in the men’s and women’s categories respectively as the 2025 Uganda Hockey Association Easter Cup concluded on Sunday, April 20, following three days of intense action at Lugogo.
In the men’s final, Wanainchi edged out Weatherhead with a commanding 2-0 victory to lift the Easter Cup trophy.
Wanainchi had earlier eliminated USIU A with a narrow 1-0 win in the semifinals, while Weatherhead booked their spot in the final with a 3-0 triumph over Kampala Hockey Club.
The women’s final saw USIU edge Tunza Sports U21 1-0 to claim the title, capping off an impressive campaign that included a 4-0 win over Weatherhead in the final group matches.
Tunza, who had been one of the standout teams throughout the tournament, were unable to find a way past a resilient USIU side.
The girls’ final between Gayaza and Namagunga was decided in a tense shootout after a goalless draw, with Gayaza clinching the title 9-8.
