Uganda Rugby Union, a little over a month ago on March 20, paused the 2025 Women’s Rugby Premiership for the Lady Rugby Cranes national team to prepare for the Africa Women’s Cup – Division One tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
Team Uganda, led by captain Angella Nanyonjo, beat Tunisia, Zimbabwe and the hosts Côte d’Ivoire to not only emerge as undefeated champions but also return to the top tier division of women’s rugby on the continent.
Teammates will now turn opponents in their respective clubs as the national premiership resumes this Saturday with Round Eleven.
The clubs will have all their players available for selection since the national teams (7s and XVs) are not on duty.
Full Round Eleven Fixtures (all 3 p.m. EAT kickoff):
- Entebbe: Avengers v Nile Rapids
- Kyadondo: Thunderbirds v She-Wolves
- Kings Park: Black Pearls v Panthers
Ewes have a bye on this matchday.
When the Premiership paused, Black Pearls were and still sit at the top of the table with a maximum of forty points. Panthers are the lowest-ranked team with just five.
Emilly Lekuru leads the top try scorers’ charts with a whopping forty-one tries, and her Black Pearls teammate is the best kicker with twenty-four conversions and two penalties.
