Gymnastics icon Simone Biles has expressed uncertainty about competing at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, citing concerns about motivation and the toll on her body.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist secured three titles at Paris 2024—team, all-around, and vault—after overcoming setbacks from Tokyo 2020, where she withdrew from multiple events due to the ‘twisties,’ a mental block affecting spatial awareness.
While the prospect of competing at a home Olympics is appealing, Biles says she has not made a final decision.
“I have accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, I would really need to be excited by it,” she told L’Equipe.
The Laureus Sportswoman of the Year also spoke candidly about the physical strain she felt in Paris, admitting that exhaustion led to a 10-day illness after the event.
Despite the uncertainties, she confirmed she will be present in Los Angeles—whether competing or watching from the stands.
