Ruud van Nistelrooy is waiting to learn if he will remain Leicester City manager after their Premier League relegation was confirmed by a 1-0 loss to Liverpool.
The Foxes have won just eight points in 20 games under the Dutchman, who was appointed in November.
Van Nistelrooy, 48, has discussed his plans to bring the club back with the owners and board but is “waiting on alignment.”
He stressed the need for a swift decision for the club’s sake.
Leicester’s defeat was their 16th in 18 matches and their ninth consecutive home game without a goal – a new Premier League record.
Fan frustration was evident as a banner reading “King Power Clueless Sack The Board” was flown over the stadium.
Van Nistelrooy, who signed a three-year deal, replaced Steve Cooper but couldn’t prevent Leicester’s second relegation in three seasons.
The club face Wolves on Saturday as his future remains uncertain.
