The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) and the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces’ Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka (SCSC-K) came together for a day of sports activities on Wednesday, April 24, 2025.
The event, hosted at the SCSC-K in Jinja, featured competitive football and volleyball matches aimed at enhancing cohesion among personnel.
Maj Gen George Igumba, the Commandant of SCSC-K, underscored the critical role of teamwork in military operations, stating that “militaries all over the world operate by working together as a team, not as individuals.”
Maj Gen Igumba highlighted that the initiative was built on four core objectives: fostering interaction, encouraging familiarity, building stronger bonds, and promoting physical fitness among the defence forces.
Representing MODVA, Mr Erukwaine Godfrey, who heads the Procurement and Disposal Unit, commended the participants for their enthusiasm and reiterated the value of such initiatives in strengthening morale and camaraderie within the forces.
The day concluded with a trophy presentation ceremony that brought together both senior and junior personnel from MODVA and SCSC-K, marking a successful culmination to a day dedicated to promoting unity through sport.
