FUFA Drops Disciplinary Hammer on BUL, Kitara, and Kataka Following Uganda Cup and Big League Chaos

The FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has issued a wave of sanctions targeting players and clubs following a series of misconduct incidents during the Stanbic Uganda Cup and FUFA Big League fixtures.

The decisions, confirmed on Friday, underscore FUFA’s growing intolerance for unsporting behavior, particularly toward match officials.

Uganda Cup: Chaos in Butema Sparks Heavy Sanctions

The Uganda Cup quarterfinal clash between Kitara FC and BUL FC on April 20 at Royals Park in Butema wasn’t just a high-stakes encounter—it became a flashpoint for disciplinary breaches.

BUL’s Walter Ochora was handed a 10-match suspension and fined UGX 1,000,000 after he physically pushed referee Musisi Henry during the heated fixture.

FUFA confirmed that the suspension covers all FUFA-organized competitions and takes immediate effect.

His teammate, Nicholas Mwere, was also cited for similar misconduct. Initially handed a 10-match ban and UGX 1,000,000 fine, the FDP considered his apology, acceptance of the charge, and remorse, and suspended 2 of the 10 games.

Mwere will now serve an 8-match ban, alongside the standard suspension for the red card he received in the match.

The match itself ended 1-0 in favor of Kitara FC—marking their first-ever win over BUL FC in seven attempts.

However, the post-match talking points were dominated by the controversial scenes and disciplinary fallout.

Kitara Players Sanctioned for Improper Conduct

Kitara was not spared from FUFA’s disciplinary net. Three of their players—Titus Ssematimba, Henry Kaddu Patrick, and George Senkaaba—were found guilty of improper conduct around the 60th minute of the same game.

Each received a 2-match suspension from all FUFA-organized competitions. Additionally, the FDP slapped each with a UGX 500,000 suspended fine, which will be enforced if they commit any future disciplinary violation.

These actions are in accordance with Section 43(3) of the FUFA Competition Rules, which addresses behavior deemed unsporting or disruptive to match order and officiating integrity.

Kataka FC Punished for Match Official Assault in FUFA Big League

Away from the Uganda Cup, Kataka FC has also been punished following disturbing scenes during their FUFA Big League match against Blacks Power FC on March 30 at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

FUFA found the club in breach of Article 14 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code after match officials were physically attacked following the game.

The disciplinary panel issued the following sanctions:

A UGX 2,000,000 fine

A suspended deduction of two points and two goals, which will be enforced should the club repeat such conduct in future competitions

The match had ended 1-0 in favor of Blacks Power FC, but the aftermath cast a shadow over what was otherwise a competitive fixture.

A Firm Stand on Discipline

FUFA’s decisive action sends a strong message about the values the federation intends to uphold—fair play, respect for officials, and professionalism.

These sanctions come at a time when the federation is under pressure to maintain order in a season marked by heightened competition both in the Uganda Premier League and the lower divisions.

While the punishments are severe, they reflect FUFA’s resolve to protect the integrity of the game and ensure that misconduct—especially violence toward match officials—is met with zero tolerance.
