Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-0 victory over Mainz on Saturday thanks to goals from Leroy Sané, Michael Olise, and Eric Dier.
However, Bayer Leverkusen’s win against Augsburg means Bayern must wait to secure the Bundesliga title.
Sané opened the scoring, followed by a fine Olise strike and a late Dier header.
Bayern would have been champions if Leverkusen had dropped points, but the eight-point gap remains. Thomas Muller made his 500th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern.
A win for Bayern away at RB Leipzig next Saturday will seal their 33rd league title.
