FUFA CEO Highlights Expanded Vision for 2024 MTN-FUFA Awards

As the MTN-FUFA Awards 2024 were unveiled at the Kampala Serena Hotel, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson emphasized the broader focus of this year’s edition, positioning the awards as a key driver in celebrating and promoting diversity within the sport.

“This year’s Awards shine a spotlight on growth, diversity, and excellence both on and off the pitch,” Watson said.

“We are excited to see the football family come together once again to honour our best, and also recognize the emerging stars and contributors who sometimes work behind the scenes.”

Launched in 2015, the FUFA Awards were designed to formally recognize outstanding achievement in Ugandan football.

Over the past seven editions, the event has expanded both in stature and scale.

This year’s Awards feature an expanded list of categories, introducing honours such as the Upcoming Talent Award, the Best Squad of a Particular Year, and the MTN Media Personality of the Year award.

The ceremony also unveiled the new theme ‘Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars’, aimed at honouring the game’s current icons while motivating the next generation of talent across Uganda.

Strategic sponsorships, led by MTN Uganda and Crown Beverages, have ensured that the Awards continue to grow in prestige, helping to solidify their place as a fixture on the national sporting calendar.
