Close behind her was teammate Charity Cherop, who secured the silver medal with a strong finish in 15:33.43, completing a remarkable 1-2 for Uganda.

In the U18 women’s 3000m, Uganda’s dominance was equally evident. Chebet Isella clinched the gold medal, while Kezia Chebet followed closely to earn silver, underlining the nation’s strength in distance running.

The victories mark a proud moment for Uganda as the young athletes not only delivered outstanding times but also showcased the depth of talent emerging from the country’s development programs.

Their performances further build on the momentum from the recent national trials and serve as a clear testament to the success of structured athlete nurturing systems.

With the championships still underway, Uganda’s early success sets a positive tone as the team aims for more podium finishes and continues to solidify its reputation in regional athletics.
