Manchester City booked their place in a third successive FA Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Rico Lewis’ early goal and a second-half header from Josko Gvardiol sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s side, who will face Crystal Palace in the final on May 17th.
The win came on the same day City relinquished their Premier League title to Liverpool.
Despite this, City controlled the game from the start, with Lewis opening the scoring after just two minutes following a Mateo Kovacic assist.
Forest had chances, notably Anthony Elanga missing an open goal, and struck the woodwork three times through Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi.
However, Gvardiol’s header in the 51st minute gave City a comfortable cushion.
Forest, who last reached the FA Cup final in 1991, were backed by a large travelling support but ultimately couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities.
City now aim to salvage their season by lifting the FA Cup, while Forest focus on their remaining Premier League games in pursuit of a Champions League spot.
