Uganda Cup Final: First Ever Trophy to Be Lifted at FIFA-Funded Kadiba Stadium

The journey to the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup final has taken a major twist, not on the pitch, but off it.

It’s now confirmed that the showpiece match will be hosted at Kadiba Stadium in Mengo, a venue that has been under construction for years under FIFA’s funding program.

During the semifinal draw held at Serena Hotel, Kampala on Monday morning, FUFA announced that Kadiba will host two of KCCA, Vipers, Kitara, and Kataka in the prestigious final, though the actual match date is yet to be pinned down.

Kadiba is a significant project for Uganda’s football landscape, a facility backed by a FIFA Forward Program grant valued at $2.3 million (about UGX 8.4 billion).

The investment, initiated in 2018, has seen its completion delayed due to phased funding and logistical hurdles, but the facility is now inching closer to full operational readiness.

Originally expected to be completed by 2023, Kadiba’s progress accelerated recently, especially with Uganda preparing to co-host the CHAN 2024 (shifted to August 2025) and the AFCON 2027.

The Uganda Cup final will be the first major event to truly “test drive” Kadiba ahead of these continental assignments.

Uganda Cup 2025 Semifinal Fixtures:

  • KCCA FC vs Kataka FC
  • Vipers SC vs Kitara FC

First Legs: May 3–4, 2025
Second Legs: May 17–18, 2025

The battle lines are drawn. Kadiba Stadium is ready for its first financial and footballing stress test.
