Vipers captain Milton Karisa has urged his teammates to remain focused and fight with full commitment as the club hosts UPDF at St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday in a crucial Uganda Premier League fixture.
Vipers currently lead the table with 59 points from 25 games, five points ahead of NEC with just five matches left.
With the title race intensifying, Karisa emphasized that the players must maintain their winning mentality and not be swayed by the slim advantage.
“We are well prepared and we have nothing else but an objective of going out for all the three points,” Karisa said ahead of the fixture.
“We know very well what’s at stake. We have a five-point lead at the top but that doesn’t mean we should relax. My fellow players know what we have to do until the last game.”
The skipper acknowledged the pressure of playing at home but stressed that the team thrives under such conditions and must deliver a strong performance.
“We will be at home with a little bit of pressure but we are used to that because that’s part of our job. All we have to do is come to the game well prepared, freshen up, and fight with every bit of our energy and our hearts out to make sure we get maximum points,” he added.
Vipers head into the tie buoyed by recent victories over NEC and Maroons, and an unbeaten home record this season—winning nine and drawing three of their 12 games at Kitende.
Historically, they have dominated UPDF, winning 11 and drawing four of their 15 previous meetings.
The fixture kicks off at 7pm under the Kitende floodlights.
