Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of 19-year-old Algerian attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza from Hertha Berlin for a reported €12 million.
The international, who came through Hertha’s youth system, has signed a contract until 2030, becoming Leverkusen’s first summer acquisition.
Sporting director Simon Rolfes lauded Maza as “one of the most interesting young attacking players,” highlighting his technical ability and vision.
Maza expressed his excitement, calling it a “dream” move and his ambition to “prove myself on the big stage” and “win titles” with Leverkusen.
Born in Berlin to Algerian and Vietnamese parents, Maza is seen as a potential future replacement for Florian Wirtz. He will join the club after the current season.
