NBL: JKL Lady Dolphins Hit Another Century in Ruthless Rout of Angels

Reigning National Basketball League (NBL) women’s champions JKL Lady Dolphins continued their relentless march toward another title with a commanding 106-35 victory over Angels on Wednesday night at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The game, which aired live on AfroMobile, reinforced JKL’s position as the team to beat this season.

The Dolphins came into the game riding high after a silver medal finish at the Genocide Memorial Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, and looked every bit the continental powerhouse they have become.

Star forward Hope Akello once again led from the front with a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists, earning a staggering 42 efficiency rating.

Akello’s dominance was unmatched on both ends of the floor, providing stability and firepower as JKL overwhelmed their opponents from tip-off to the final buzzer.

She was ably supported by Miimah Ssegujja, who recorded a strong double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, while also adding four assists.

Evelyn Nakiyingi ran the offence with precision, dishing out 13 assists to go with her 9 points and 6 boards.

Ritah Imanishimwe added 18 points, 6 rebounds, and a game-high 8 steals, while Shamirah Nakiyaga contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The win marks JKL’s second 100-plus point game in recent outings, following their 102-63 demolition of UPDF Lady Tomahawks before their Kigali trip.

With four league titles already in the cabinet, the Lady Dolphins have once again shown why they are the gold standard in Ugandan women’s basketball.

For the Angels, the game was a brutal reality check. Coming off a loss to Miracle Eaglets and still trying to regain consistency, they were thoroughly outclassed in every department.

Their defensive frailties and lack of cohesion were exposed early, and they never recovered.
